This summer, the Boston Public Health Commission is working on a project to promote tap water consumption around Boston. We want to show you that tap water is the best way to quench your thirst. Why should you drink tap water?
Well, water might just be the perfect beverage. It’s healthy, refreshing, and best of all, practically free!
Healthy. As you probably know, sugary beverages like soda, sports drinks, and energy drinks add calories to your day without providing any nutritional benefit. In fact, a typical 20-ounce soda contains about 16 teaspoons of sugar and 250 calories. An average adult would have to walk at a brisk pace for 45 minutes just to burn off these calories. Extra calories can lead to obesity, heart disease, and diabetes.
